Beijing Olympic Bird Nest 105KW Grid-Connected PV System

With "Green Olympics" as one of the main themes of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, the project of the "Bird Nest" National Stadium, the main stadium of the Beijing Olympics fully reflects the concept of "Green Olympics" in design and construction. The "Bird's Nest", officially named "the National Stadium", is the main stadium for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, with the total investment of over RMB 3 billion, the floor space of 258,000 square meters and more than 91,000 seats. It is shaped like a nest that nurtures new life and particularly a cradle with hopes of mankind for the future.

The installed capacity is 100 kilowatts and systems were respectively installed at the 7 entrances and exits of the "Bird's Nest", including main gate, reaching international advanced level technically. It is of great significance to use PV grid-tied power system for Olympic engineering, truly demonstrating the theme of Green Olympics and setting an example to other Olympic projects. When being introduced the progress of the system during the investigation of the "Bird Nest" project, Chairman of CPPCC Jia Qinglin said, "It is wonderful to make use of green energy in Olympic Games, so you do great contributions to the construction of Olympic project."
