Shanghai World Expo 5.0MW Grid-Connected PV System

Sungrow Power Supply Co., Ltd., the leading PV & wind inverter manufacturer in China, has won a tender of supplying PV grid-connected inverters for a 3MW building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) project at the World Expo Shanghai 2010 ("World Expo").

The 3MW BIPV system will be installed at the Pavilions at the World Expo, which is not only the largest PV project, but also the largest BIPV installation in China. Other than supplying grid-connected inverters, monitoring systems, powerful interfacing software and hardware, Sungrow will also provide technical supporting services such as system improvement design and installation for the captioned project.

With more than 150 years of history, the World Expo to be held at Shanghai in 2010 is an international event which demonstrating the latest achievements from different countries ranging from human society, technology, science and economy. The theme of the World Expo 2010 is "Better City, Better Life" which emphasizing the importance of the harmony between urban life and the natural environment, the largest BIPV system echoes the theme of the World Expo. The design life time of the BIPV system to be installed is 25 years. The installed capacity is 3MW which generating 3MkWhr per year while cutting down more than 2600tons of carbon dioxide emission per year. After the completion of the installation, even though it can only help ceasing the chronic power shortage slightly, it demonstrates the importance of advocating energy saving, reducing carbon dioxide emission and developing Renewable Energy to the society. This is another remarkable project won by Sungrow after the project of "2008 Beijing Olympic Stadium – Bird Nest". Sungrow will make use of this valuable chance to display the professional design capability and skillful installation experience of our engineering team - one of the crucial elements that making Sungrow at the leading position of Renewable Energy industry in China.
